What IS Coaching Anyway?
You’ve probably heard about coaching, or you may have seen any number of articles or ads promoting it. But have you seen anyone explain what it actually is? Or even better- how it can benefit you? Well you came to the right place for those answers, and I’m also going to tell you what coaching is NOT.
Its unlikely that anyone is oblivious to the fact that our world is changing- and its changing fast! Sometimes, what we want for ourselves, our families, or even how we understand what’s going on around us gets lost in the shuffle. Its so easy to lose focus, or sometimes its really hard to even gain it to begin with. We all have the ability to make the kind of life we truly want, but many don’t know how to find or use the tools we already have. For those who feel stuck, who can’t figure out what they want, or for those who know what they want but can’t figure out how to get there, coaching can help.
One of the most common questions is how is coaching different from counseling? The truth is that both are incredibly helpful, and I highly recommend both. But they serve different purposes. In counseling the focus is on the past. Its working to help individuals and families uncover what has lead to certain feelings, behaviors, or circumstances. Its about healing from pain in the past. With coaching, the future is the focus. Where are you at now and how do you get to where you want to go? Yes- the past is completely relevant and needs to be understood. But coaching is about helping you dig deep into your personal values and navigating your way to a life that is in alignment with them.
During our sessions we will talk about what you want things to look like in your life, whether it pertains to your family, or any relationships, your confidence, or any other parts of your life that are not what you want them to be. I will help you uncover the truth about where you are and how to get to where you want to be. The truth is, you have the ability to make it all a reality, already inside you. Its my job, as your coach, to help you find and utilize it.
